The First Rose Series - 2016

A LESSON IN ROMANTICS

This series was meant to highlight and bring awareness to sexual and domestic violence.

I chose to create this series by painting with $400 worth of unwanted roses.

The works below, show my emotional processing of past traumas. I was abused verbally, physically, emotionally, and sexually in my childhood.

This series was an awakening for me; it’s a visual representation of finding my voice after being silenced my whole existence.
